I'm Supergirl

Supergirl flies between skyscrapers seen from street level, a composition built on extreme perspective, dramatic light and motion blur.

Looking up between tall blue glass skyscrapers into a bright sky, an illustrated Supergirl with blonde hair and a green cape flies towards the viewer, with strong radial motion blur.

About this piece

An experiment in perspective, light and movement. You’re looking straight up between skyscrapers, and a radial motion blur pulls everything into the centre, so the figure seems to burst out of the city towards you. The bright sky behind gives it that dramatic backlight.

Motion blur: another Photoshop filter I was very, very fond of.

Sources

Supergirl is a DC Comics character, and the figure is not my illustration. My part was the composition: the cityscape, perspective, lighting and motion blur.
